We REALLY need to start making parenting license mandatory

Because here's a story of stupid parent #367. I'm telling you we're being out bred here:

Pull into a convience store, stupid blonde mommy pulls in behind me. I get out to go inside as does she. But she's left her kid still strapped into the car seat. With the car running. while walking inside talking on the cell phone. And goes in and waits at the FAR counter where you cant see outside.

*blink* huh?

Look I know its a pain in the rear to take the kid in and out, but geez, take SOME precaution for christ sakes. I mean, turn off the igition, and lock the doors or SOMETHING. Or stop talking and pay attention outside or anything.

I mean, that IS if you love or even like your kid and all.

No I didnt say anything to her. Chances are she's one of those "my shit dont stink, neither does my kids" type person. I really didnt feel like dealing with a stupid person. I did wait around outside to make sure the car and kid didnt disappear, but I'm getting tired of parenting other people's kids here. Whether its here or at McDonalds or anywhere else. I know its hard, but thats what you get for getting naked and rolling around with a man.....

Good morning ,
I don't know what the law is where you live but here in my part of Canada it is illegal to leave your child in a vehical unattended even if it is not running.

I remember once when I was doing daycare I had a family that had 2 children a small baby and another child about 3.

This one day the mom came to pick up the children and she parked her car directly outside my place on the street about 30 feet from my door.

She came in got the baby took her out and strapped her in the carseat and came back to get the 3 year old who was with me in the doorway. Meanwhile a police car just happened to be comming up the street at this time and actually stopped and came over and gave her "what for" about having the baby in the car unattended.

I think this situation is not at all the same as yours, however, we all know that common sence was deffinately some where in the middle.

have a good day.

A few years ago, during the summer, we going into a store and passed a van parked in the disability space.

There was a kid in a chair strapped in the back.

We came out 30 minutes or so later with our groceries, and the freaking van was still there. I noticed that the windows were closed (it was hot), so I went and got the manager. He called the police.

Indignant mommy says, "I just popped in to pick up a couple of things!"

Can you believe the mother using the disability spot for her shopping convenience and then leaving the kid with no ventilation?

This still pisses me off to no end. grrrrr

I can still remember as a kid being out on saturday in the old yellow corverre.

On many occassions I remember being left either sitting in it in the hot hot summer heat the sweat just dripping off of me and feeling very nausious. And another time I remember being in the car for so long that my brother and I got so bored that he started to play with buttons and knobs and pulled the cigarette lighter out and of course being a kid he stuck his finger in it and got burned.

Then I remember him standing in the snow bank with his finger in the snow trying to relieve the pain.
I also then remember my adoptive mom comming out of the store and giving us shit.
Ummm lemme see you leave two kids alone for a very long time we do something stupid out of sheer boredom and we are in shit????

HI Carmachu,
yes, you hit the nail literally on the head as I can actually remember being told that saying on many occassions.

I remember when they would be entertaining and I would be tending the bar for the guests as usual( I was about 10). I remember being told "remember children are to be seen and not heard"..
( that all just came back to me when I read your comment...flashback)

So the moral of that story is...it is perfectly acceptable for a 10 year old girl to mix alcoholic beverages for adults so long as she does not speak.

Here it is illegal to leave a child under eleven alone in a vehicle.

People are stupid. It's a simple fact. And the stupid ones breed faster than the not so stupid ones. We have figured out how to work the condoms, after all.

kind of off the point BUT... i remember my mom left me in the car once when i was about 6 , she ran into my school to talk to my teacher and she left me with mcdonalds french fries and the ketchup packets... well... out of shear bordom I took the ketchup and squeezed it as hard as i could. well the car was hot and the packet broke pretty easy. Needless to say my mom wasnt to happy to find ketchup all over the interior of the car but she never left me alone in the car again.:)

I've seen this happen. These mom's piss me off. I had an experience similiar to Attila's.

There's this one mom I used to run into a few days a week. We would stop at the same gas station about the same time to fill up in the mornings. She left her daughter (about 2 yrs old) in the car - hot as hell out side and left the windows up. I followed her in the store and after it was obvious that she was going to stand in an overly long line to get CANDY - I said something about it to her.

She got really shitty with me. I caught her doing it again about a month later and called the cops. I waved to her as I drove away.

I don't think it ever sunk into her head that LEAVING YOUR KIDS IN A LOCKED VEHICLE WITH WINDOWS UP AND IT"S HOT AS HELL FIRE IS BAD.

...and like Attila, I'm still mad at her.

Yes LG, they breed faster since we know how to use a condom and birth control. Sad isnt it.

Quinn, thats F'd up. They let YOU at 10 yrs old, tend bar? WTF.....

Nikki: windows were down in this case, but leaving all the window s down and the car running is a bit worse since some one can STEAL THE F'NING CAR.....
