It runs in the family

You'll notice below that I say I'm a smart ass. But what you dont realize is that its genetic. It runs through the family.

Like yesterday.

I'm the oldest in the family, and as all you older(and younger) siblings know its our divine right to torment the younger folks in the family. We get more responsibility, but we also get to torture you younger ones. Its only fair.

So yesterday, the youngest in the family, 16 going on 17, is in his favorite spot at the house, the little grape arbor thats so old that its basically enclosed by grape plants on all but two sides. So I creep up close behind him, find a potted plant and start throwing tiny bits of dirt at the back of his neck. At first he just brushes it off. Then he brushes harder. Pretty soon he's standing up shaking his shirt like some got down. Finally he turns around to see me laughing at him......then I turn around and then there is our mother standing behind me laughing at the whole situation....no scolding, she's finding it just as amusing as I am that I'm tormenting the youngest....

SO there you go. You ever start wondering why I'm so bad....they just encouraged me....

Addendum:

Just got off the phone with my father and told him this story, his response was to laugh and say "good. Get him up and moving about..."

Hehehe. Luckily, through our seperate gene pools, I was as tall as my older brother during most of our child and teenhood.

He try something like that with me, I'd kick his ass. And win, too.

Picking on siblings? Isn't that a law or something? My brother use to booby trap my bedroom door all the time. The saddest part is, I fell for it all.the.time.

(Sorry, I signed in under my other ID just above here.)

My little brother would always try and start something. I would hold back and then just get tired of his pestering and deck him. He was so sure I was the favorite (there is ample evidence supporting this theory)that he hated me. He would beg permission to kill me when he was in the 11-13 year range :). He never got permission. My parents usually let me settle it. Like the time he came at me with a kitchen knife right in front of my mom. I just kicked him right in the nose. He was writhing "in pain" on the ground trying to get my mom's sympathy. Her only comment to her sister on the phone was, "David just broke Michael's nose." Really, no need to call CPS. That was the worst episode ever. Usually it was just one or two punches.

Now you see david, when one comes at you with a knife that tends to be a bit more than just pciking on each other....

You are right. Sorry to spoil the fun. 13 years later, and being friends now, softens the seriousness of the memory. We go to baseball games together and try and give each other advice. All the "hateration" is over.

Thats good. I've never gone through any hate with mine...

Today I offered(along with the little girl) to "help" get my youngest brother out of bed....oh the fun...
