It runs in the family

You'll notice below that I say I'm a smart ass. But what you dont realize is that its genetic. It runs through the family.

Like yesterday.

I'm the oldest in the family, and as all you older(and younger) siblings know its our divine right to torment the younger folks in the family. We get more responsibility, but we also get to torture you younger ones. Its only fair.

So yesterday, the youngest in the family, 16 going on 17, is in his favorite spot at the house, the little grape arbor thats so old that its basically enclosed by grape plants on all but two sides. So I creep up close behind him, find a potted plant and start throwing tiny bits of dirt at the back of his neck. At first he just brushes it off. Then he brushes harder. Pretty soon he's standing up shaking his shirt like some got down. Finally he turns around to see me laughing at him......then I turn around and then there is our mother standing behind me laughing at the whole situation....no scolding, she's finding it just as amusing as I am that I'm tormenting the youngest....

SO there you go. You ever start wondering why I'm so bad....they just encouraged me....

Addendum:

Just got off the phone with my father and told him this story, his response was to laugh and say "good. Get him up and moving about..."

Crap on a stick!

See what happens when you say ok to getting added to someone's blog roll? You get tagged by some semi-nice lady....*grin*

Nainaashley over at Far from the daily Grind tagged me for 10 things about me.....

So without further ado...and in random order:

1)My handle makes up a bit more than half my first name. But I'll keep you guessing as to which letters.

2) I tend to have more friends that are female than male. Which has lead to some saying I'm "one of the girls". Now I have to decide if I'm flattered or insulted....

3)One of them called me transexual, because it was the only thing that made sense.

4) I have one little 4 year old girl and a little boy on the way in August.

5)I love to read. I have tons of books of all types, much to sometimes the mrs chagrin. We actually have a small room filled with bookshelves filled with books, which sadly....I now have to box them all up to make room for the new little boy....

6)I'm a sucker for carnivals. While growing up, we didnt have alot, but dad always took us to ones that were in town....So I have that same love and it looks like sarah will too.

7)I'm a smartass. And sarah is follwoing in my footsteps. You've been warned.

8) I like playing RPG's(thats roleplaying games) and table top miniature games

9)I am NOT a princess, either now or in a past life. Although I definately am raising one.

10)And uhm....the mrs and I STILL cant agree on a boy names. We're still taking suggestions.

Bad parenting and playground justice

So again, bad parents at McDonald's. But this time with a twist.

So with sarah and daddy time, we went out for lunch at the McDonald's with a playground. In the playground are, there's a birthday party going on. No problem.

Except moms, back me up on this one, there's always a mom or three who think at every party that they brought the kid, her work is done and sits around and does nothing while her child screws up. You all know you've had them at your parties....

This one is no different. HER darling bundle of trouble decided he didnt want anyone coming out the tunnel slide after he comes down, so he holds the walls and blocks it off so no one can get out...and the log jam starts. You all know what happens next, right? Mommy dearest waddles up from her burger and scolds him after he gets up and starts going up again with "now you let the kids through, no stopping, do you understand?" Which is as effective as a wet noodle, as he continues. And every other time(because apparantly she cant be bothered each time) to admonish him the same way.

Except finally, all the other children have had enough. God bless playground justice, because the other children, both at his party and not, decide THEY had enough, and several of them each time, some older, some not, knock his arms down and physically drag him off the slide. Or climb over him and step on him.

It was great. When parents dont want to deal, children sometimes do!

Warning political

I saw this and had to share. Political ahead, so turn back now, you were warned.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some interesting thoughts. I'm not sure who wrote them.

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War Two owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

Very few people were true Nazis "he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything.

I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.

We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.

The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.

The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority" the "silent majority" is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia comprised Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China 's huge population, it was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

"The average Japanese individual prior to World War 2 was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peaceful & loving"?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians,Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Dinosaur play

Last Friday, I took sarah to Dr Rock's dinosaur play, which was SO cool.

Thy gave out chocolate lollypops before the show....not the smartest move for small kids, but she loved it.

The show started late, so daddy and sarah made the best of it and had fun!

Fun was had by all and we even got a picture of the creatures!

Here and there and back again.

Had to work alot yesterday. Left before the ladies of teh house awoke and got back after dinner....3 state move of various items of heavy nature. NY to CT to Mass then back again.

It was fun, but tiring.

And in other news, thank you SO much Deb. You made Kim's(and sarah's) day. I got an excited phone call saying both a stroller and a boppy arrived. It made her,s, and mine, day. And sarah's remark was "look a boppy for me to hold the baby!"

Thank you so much!
