Like daddy, like daughter

So sarah's in the bath, and all I hear upstairs is "who taught her that!?"

So I go up to look, and ask what. Kim says " to roll her eyes like that."

One eye roll later as I walk out the room, I hear "she does it EXACTLY like you do."

My only response is "thats my girl all right."

Poor mommy, she better hope the little boy is more like her or she's about to be seriously outnumbered....and might end up in the nut house. No wait, thats where she is already....*grin*

Can I say

I hate shopping? I really really do.

The Mrs has been complaining of back pain, and when she was pregnant with Sarah, I had bought her a vibrating back pillow at a office supply store where I was gaming so it would help with sitting and driving. But like most things around here, we gave away baby stuff we don't need and now folks give us now stuff we need.

But she gave a good friend her vibrating pillow and hasn't gotten it back yet. So like a good husband I went out in search of one. With Sarah in tow, after work, while Kim was at work.

Oy Vey.

Went to the local office supply place. After 20 minutes of fruitless searching, I asked someone. No, they don't carry it. Why? I don't know, but their other store did 60 miles away back then....so we went to the mall with Sarah having gotten some play money.

We then started at Sears. I mean, its Sears, they have to have it right? After searching the bedding section, I asked. No, they only carry them during the holiday season. Why I'll never know, but they don't have it. So we trudged(or rather, I trudged, Sarah was tired, so I carried her and the stuffed animal she got) ALL the way to the other end of the mall to Another chain store.

No, they don't have it. Of course they might have, but for some reason I couldn't find a single sales rep ANYWHERE in this department store. Unless I wanted makeup. The makeup section was fully stocked with 6 employees.....while the entire bedding section, layaway, and 3 registers didn't have a single one.

So we left the mall. And drove across the way to Bed, Bath and Beyond. I mean, it has bedding, it should have them, right? But no. After 2 laps around the circular store and a lollipop for Sarah, we flag down one of the 2 employees there(because they aren't even wearing name tags, so maybe there was more than 2 there), they look around and they too are surprised they don't have them. They lady tries to be helpful as says "have you looked in our online store?" Like that's suppose to help get it by tonight as a surprise. If I have to shop online, it certainly wont be here.

So back in the car and off to WalMart. Why Walmart? Because it has everything usually and it has a McDonald's, as its an hour past Sarah's dinner time. So one happy meal later we wander through Walmart. After one circular pass and saying hello to someone we know, we find not one, but TWO vibrating pillows. Of course we buy both, long with a princess chair for Sarah.

So, while you all knock Walmart, it actually HAS the stuff I need, rather than all the other crappy places that wasted my time....So Sarah and I get home at 8pm for bath and bed....ugh.

two freaking hours to find one little item. I hate shopping.

My first award!

Deb over at The Rantings ofDeb tagged me with the Thinking Blogger Award, because apparently, I make her think.

The rules are:
1. If, and only if,you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think, 2.Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme, 3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to thepost that you wrote.

So in no particularorder:

1) Attila over at Cheaper then Therapy. Between the stupid awards and Asshat ones, it reallygets your mind working over just how bad people can get. And what the hell arethey thinking. That's in addition to the wonders and workings of herlife. That and her dealings with Autism, especially her latest post.

2)Quinn over at OnVoice is Heard. It really gets my mind wondering just over adoption. And postsover her son's karate journey.

3)Deb back at Rantings of Deb.She's an amazing woman with her life's journey, whether I agree of not is another story.

4)Jade Over at Inlaws from hell. Whileshe's on hiatus at the moment, I know she's coming back soon, as I've heard fromher. Makes me wonder exactly what kind of people are really out there. I'mamazed at her patience.

5)A good friend of mine blog, Ladygamer , has her own little world that she'screated. Its incredible.....go check it out.

The next time your feeling bad

"The next time you're having a bad day, imagine this:

You're a Siamese Twin.

Your brother, attached at the shoulder, is gay.

You're not.

He has a date coming over tonight.

You have only one ass."

As the old saying goes

Crap on a stick.

7 inches of rain in 24 hours, roughly. Good thing I'm a husband who helps with housework, or we would have been in deep crap. I went to change over the laundry late last night before bed and noticed water, just a touch. Turns out that it was seeping up from the ground, it had no where to go....

I stayed up all night with the wetvac and some pumps and made sure it stayed managable, washer and dryer are good, as was the furnace and water heater. We put the toys and books high up, and dirty laundry in bins so nothing gets ruin.

But I didnt sleep. At all. Kim came down and relieved me at 6am...but I was wired and layed down but really didnt sleep. Then my father and brother came over and we broked the concrete on the low point and dug a hole and dropped a sumppump in....and its all good and working on its own.

Its wet downstairs...but ok. Man staying up all night is interesting.....

Too smart for my own good

Some days, I'm just too smart for my own good. My long time readers know I taught sarah about "magic" as a cure for problems, from using magic to protect a room to other odds and ends.

But apparantly I taught her too well. She had a toy that had a missing piece(left at grandma's) so she turns to me and says, "Daddy! Its missing, but I'm going to use my magic to make it appear. Abbracadabra, calamazoo, let the piece appear, but not in the zoo!"

Then was slightly disappointed it didnt show up. And turns to me and asks "why didnt it appear, I used my magic?"

Ooops, I did too good of a job, apparantly.
